Tulika Maan, who secured a Paris Olympics quota for India in judo after winning a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games, was listed by the International Judo Federation (IJF).

The IJF published a list of qualified judokas for the Summer Games, and 25-year-old Tulika Maan’s name appeared in the +78 kg category.

Ranked 36th with 1345 points, Maan, originally from Delhi, achieved this during the qualification period from June 22, 2022, to June 23, 2024.

According to the IJF website, the next step in the process will occur on July 2 when the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) must nominate the athletes who will represent them. Only one judoka per NOC is allowed per weight category.

Each country is permitted to enter a maximum of 14 judokas, seven from men and seven from women, in each bodyweight category. France, as the host country, is automatically included in all 14 individual events. Additionally, 15 spots are reserved for eligible NOCs through universality quotas granted by the Tripartite Commission.

The remaining judokas had to go through a qualifying process based on world rankings to secure their spot in their respective categories.

At the Tokyo Olympics, Sushila Devi Likmabam was India’s only representative in Judo. Unfortunately, she was eliminated in the opening round of the women’s 48kg division.
