Despite a brilliant innings of 86 off 46 balls by visiting skipper Sanju Samson, Rajasthan failed to receive adequate support from the top order and ultimately suffered a 20-run loss in New Delhi.
Khaleel Ahmed and Axar Patel dismissed both openers within the powerplay, but Samson’s aggressive batting led Rajasthan to 67 runs in the first six overs. Despite a brief partnership with Riyan Parag, Samson primarily carried the chase and was controversially dismissed after a valiant effort. The rest of the Rajasthan lineup collapsed quickly, ending with a score of 201 for eight.
Earlier in the match, veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin troubled Delhi Capitals with quick wickets, while pacer Avesh Khan leaked runs as the hosts posted 221 for eight in their crucial game against Rajasthan Royals. Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abhishek Porel made significant contributions with the bat, with Tristan Stubbs also chipping in valuable runs. However, skipper Rishabh Pant’s bat remained relatively quiet.

Following the match between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals, there was a notable change in the top 10 of the Purple Cap list. Yuzvendra Chahal entered the top 10 with a crucial wicket of Rishabh Pant, becoming the first T20 bowler from India to achieve 350 career wickets in the format. However, by the end of the game, he was replaced by Delhi Capitals spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who moved into eighth place with two wickets. Both spinners have claimed 14 wickets this season.
