Samsung will be launching at least two versions of the Galaxy Fold 6 Ultra this year. If certain rumours turn out to be true, we may see a Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra, along with a Galaxy Z Fold 6. Samsung is expected to launch their foldables in July this year
Samsung is planning to shake things up with the launch of the Galaxy Z series this year, particularly with the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
At least two versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 are set to be revealed this year, with a recent leak uncovering the model number of the “Ultra” variant.
Previous rumours suggested Samsung may also introduce a budget-friendly version of the Galaxy Z Fold. Speculation has been rife for months about two iterations of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, one being more affordable with specific strategic adjustments.
Furthermore, reports indicate that Samsung is working on an “Ultra” style foldable to complement the more cost-effective version.
Based on a recent report from GalaxyClub, the model number for the new Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be “SM-F958.”
In past launches, Samsung typically ends the model number for flagship-series devices with the number “6.” For example, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is labelled as SM-F946, while the Fold 4 is SM-F936. Therefore, it would make sense for Fold 6 to have the model number SM-F956.
So why the inclusion of “8”?
In recent times, Samsung has used this number to indicate “Ultra” models. For example, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is identified as model number SM-S928, while the S24+ is known as SM-S926. This suggests that Samsung is indeed working on an “Ultra” variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
It is worth noting that the model number has only been seen with the suffix “N” so far, indicating a launch in South Korea. While there is no sign yet of the same model number for other regions, this is likely not a cause for alarm. Additionally, the SM-F956 model number expected for the “cheaper” model is also currently absent.
Samsung is set to announce its next range of foldable devices in July.
