Boney Kapoor was married to Mona Kapoor when he started dating Sridevi
Popular filmmaker Boney Kapoor, who made his acting debut last year with Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and is now gearing up for his production venture Maidaan, recalled his mother asking Sridevi to tie him a rakhi when they started dating.
At that time, the filmmaker was already married to Mona Shourie Kapoor and was a father to two kids, Arjun Kapoor and Anshula.
Recalling the incident, Boney told Zoom TV, “My mother could see (my feelings for Sridevi). On Raksha Bandhan, she gave a thaali (puja plate) with rakhi to Sridevi and asked her to tie me a rakhi. Sridevi just went to the room and I told her, ‘Don’t worry, don’t bother, keep this thaali here.’ She didn’t understand what the rakhi was all about.”
He added, “My love for Sridevi was there. I wooed her for almost five to six years before I reached the peak or rather where I got to know I am in a good space with her.”
The filmmaker was married to Mona when he was dating Sridevi. Speaking about that he said, “I was very honest with my wife, Arjun’s mother, Mona. She very well knew what my feelings were for Sridevi. In fact, Sridevi had stayed in the house much before we got married. I went out of my way for a lot of things where she is concerned. So she (Mona) could see it and I didn’t deny it.”
Talking about Maidaan, the film features Ajay Devgn, Priyamani, and Gajraj Rao among others. The sports drama is set to hit the screens on 10th April during the Eid weekend and will lock horns with Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Sonakshi Sinha starrer Bade Miyan Chote Miyan at the box office.
