West Indies great Courtney Walsh’s blunt assessment of Jasprit Bumrah: ‘If you’re not fit, you can’t play’

Legendary West Indies pacer Courtney Walsh gave a simple piece of advice to India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah: Stay fit. Bumrah, known as one of the best bowlers in world cricket, has a unique action that he uses effectively against batters. However, this action also puts him at risk of injuries, especially to his back.

In IPL 2024, Bumrah has been in top form for the Mumbai Indians, showcasing his skills with 18 wickets in 12 matches at an impressive economy rate.

Walsh believes that Bumrah will be a crucial player for India in the upcoming T20 World Cup if he can stay injury-free.

“Stay fit, have fun. The more you play, the more experienced you get. It’s all about managing injuries well. That will help him become fitter, stronger, and better. You can only play if you are fit enough,” Walsh told PTI.

‘Not surprised with India picking four spinners for T20 World Cup’

Walsh supports India’s decision to include four spinners in their T20 World Cup squad, considering it as a strength in the team’s lineup.

He also acknowledges that India’s pace-bowling unit complements their spinners well, making them a competitive team for the tournament.

As West Indies co-hosts the tournament, Walsh is optimistic about their chances and believes they have a balanced team that can perform well in the T20 World Cup.
