To promote Ramakunda and put it on the national tourist map, the Managing Committee of Gool Mela, in partnership with the local administration, recently organized a one-day fair. The event was inaugurated by the District Development Council Chairperson, Ramban, Shamshaad Shaan, and attended by Deputy Commissioner Ramban Basheer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary.

At the fair, stalls were set up by various departments showcasing local produce and artefacts, while locals presented folk songs and dances. Additionally, Kabbadi and Tug-of-War competitions added to the festive atmosphere of the day. The event showcased cultural performances in multiple languages, highlighting the linguistic diversity and cultural richness of the region.

The winners of the sports competitions were felicitated and awarded prizes in a ceremony attended by officials and community members. The event drew a large crowd from Ramban, Reasi, Jammu, and Srinagar, emphasizing the growing popularity of Ramakunda as a tourist destination.

In her address, Chairperson Shamshaad Shaan commended the organizers for successfully hosting the event and urged authorities to develop Ramakunda as an adventure and winter sports destination. Deputy Commissioner Basheer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary emphasized the importance of promoting tourism and cultural activities in Gool, hinting at future events to enhance local culture and unity.

The Committee Members expressed that Gool Mela not only showcased the region’s cultural heritage but also its natural beauty. With plans for a Sports Meet in the near future to further promote Ramakunda at a national level, the enthusiasm for this hidden gem of Jammu and Kashmir continues to grow.
