The Land Rover Defender line-up has undergone a significant update in international markets, introducing a new three-row version with luxurious features and a more powerful diesel engine. The new Defender 130 model now offers the option of second-row captain chairs, adding a touch of elegance to the interior.
One of the major changes in the updated Defender is the replacement of the D300 diesel engine with the more potent D350 engine from the Range Rover, delivering an impressive 350hp and 700Nm of torque. This upgrade enhances the performance of the Defender, making tasks like overtaking and towing even more effortless.
Furthermore, the P400 Ingenium straight-six petrol engine has been swapped for a 425hp supercharged 5.0-litre V8, providing a boost in power and performance. The Defender PHEV now features a 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine, aligning with Euro 6e emissions standards.
In terms of interior upgrades, the new Captain Chairs pack offers a premium seating option for the Defender 130, replacing the middle bench with individual armchairs that provide front-row comfort for second-row passengers. This pack is available on select Defender models, enhancing the overall luxury and comfort of the vehicle.
Additionally, a special ‘Sedona’ edition of the Defender 110 has been introduced, featuring unique red paintwork, a black trim pack, and the option of a bonnet decal depicting the terrain of the Sedona desert town in Arizona.
While these updates have been rolled out in international markets, it remains to be seen if they will be introduced in India. The Defender is currently offered in India in 90, 110, and 130 bodystyles with a range of powertrain options, including turbo-petrols, diesel, V8 petrol, and a petrol-plug-in hybrid.
