Tata Motors to Launch Sierra EV and Avinya Range of Premium EVs in FY2026

Tata Motors has announced plans to launch the highly anticipated Sierra EV in India in the financial year 2026, as part of its Avinya brand of premium electric vehicles. The Sierra EV, which is likely to be based on Tata’s Gen2 EV platform, will feature distinctive design elements inspired by the original Sierra from the 1990s.

Tata Sierra EV Launch

The Sierra EV was first revealed as a concept at Auto Expo 2020 and later showcased in a more production-ready form at Auto Expo 2023. Tata has confirmed that the Sierra EV will launch before March 2026 and will utilize the Acti.EV architecture. The vehicle is expected to retain key design elements such as curved-over rear-side windows and squarish wheel arches, paying homage to the original Sierra.

Tata has also announced that the first model from the Avinya range of premium EVs will debut in FY2026. The Avinya brand will encompass a lineup of electric cars and SUVs based on JLR’s modular EMA platform, with localization initiatives to reduce costs. The Avinya range will be manufactured at Tata’s upcoming plant in Tamil Nadu, where an investment of Rs 9,000 crore has been committed.

Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer at Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, has confirmed that the Avinya brand will not be limited to a single vehicle but will offer a diverse selection of all-electric vehicles. Details regarding the specific body style and specifications of the first Avinya model have not yet been disclosed, but it is anticipated that the brand will bring innovative and sustainable mobility solutions to the market.
